Rehabilite, Equip, & Develop
Thank you so much for your continuous support to FOLA, as it’s because of you that we have been able to make a tremendous difference in so many lives here in Africa. FOLA spent much and was deeply involved in supporting our people during the Covid pandemic. For us here in Uganda, we did not have near as many cases of the virus, but instead had severe starvation problems.
Due to the fact that everything was shut down for 7 1/2 months here in Uganda, many people have been affected greatly. Since the lockdown has eased, FOLA has transitioned to rehabilitation, as we could not continue to give “handouts.” For sustainability purposes, we have to rehabilitate, equip and develop our people. We have been training and encouraging them to use the little they have to start life again. They are learning new survival skills and we are taking them from being “crisis oriented” to being people who can plan well for the future. We know it will take time for them to rise up to those new heights.
We have had people coming to us, expressing their heartfelt thankfulness, because of the food support during the season of hardship. They couldn’t have made it without your and FOLA’s help! Thanks again to all who gave! During this pandemic, we have also witnessed a huge number of youth and mothers without jobs; many others were laid off from their work. Many have become hopeless or have gotten mental problems. Families are breaking up. There are more riots, robbery and murder. Only God can truly help us! Thank you, Momma Mary, for your input and mentorship during these challenging times! We have been able to share your ideas and your knowledge with others. Your coaching, training and experience in areas of planning and budgeting have helped many through this season.
*** MANY COVID DEATHS AND STARVATION CONTINUE IN UGANDA! FOLA is trying to help wherever possible. ***
"Last week was better on food but this week its getting worse. We have received phone calls from people who have spent days with out food. Please keep praying with us. We want to thank everyone who has so far supported our people with prayers, medication and food during this second wave and lockdown." With your support as a team we are committed to reach out to support as many as we can. We have had testimonies from those we have treated and they have recovered. Thank you to those who joined our prayer campaign - these people have seen the healing power of God through your prayers ." - Dr. Birungi Gilbert, Uganda, Africa
